Although billed as a pre-quel to Ridley Scott’s Alien Trilogy, surprisingly Prometheus doesn’t tip it’s h to late in the film. But even die-hard Alien fans can hardly be disappointed as this expedition is a feast for the eyes by anyone’s standards. In fact, it vaguely reminded me of a another mind-blowing science fiction movie released forty years ago. Both movies had great directors, sinister robots (or computers) , eye-popping effects, and underlying themes of discovery/creation. At the time no one had ever seen anything like 2001: A Space Odyssey. In fact I went to see it five times and was still trying to figure it out. And it looked so cool. Prometheus is more forthright with it’s message but there is still some head-scratching to be had. It’s much more than a visually impressive piece of film art.
